Tiivistelmä
Tämä opinnäytetyö käsittelee tunnetaitoja teatteriohjaajan työvälineenä. Tutkielmassa tarkastellaan ohjaajan valtapositiota ja tunnetaitoja vallan väärinkäyttöä ehkäisevänä työkaluna. Teksti vastaa kysymykseen siitä, miten ohjaaja voi hyödyntää tunnetaitoja esityksen tekemisen prosessin eri vaiheissa. Opinnäytetyössä käytetään tapausesimerkkinä kirjoittajan ohjaaman nykyteatteriesityksen How deep is your soul prosessia. Kirjoittaja vastaa kysymykseen siitä, miten olisi ohjaajana voinut helpottaa omaa ja muun työryhmän prosessia tunnetaitojen avulla.
Opinnäytetyö on tarjous ja ehdotus työkaluksi, jolla ennaltaehkäistä ohjaajan harjoittamaa vallan väärinkäyttöä. Tekstin lähteinä toimivat mm. Opetushallituksen oppimateriaalin Tunteesta tunteeseen opettajan aineisto, Daniel Golemanin teokset Tunneäly – Lahjakkuuden koko kuva ja Tunneäly työelämässä sekä useat mediatekstit.
Tutkielmassa käydään läpi tunteiden merkitystä teatteriohjaajan työssä. Kirjoittaja pohtii myös ohjaajan valtaposition suhdetta taiteilijaneromyyttiin. Tekstissä peilataan kysymyksiä vallasta teatteriohjaajan tunnetaitoihin ja niiden puutteeseen. Kirjoittaja käy läpi tapausesimerkin kautta tunteiden kokemisen neljä eri tasoa, harjoittaa itsereflektiota omasta ohjaajuudestaan sekä käy läpi erilaisia tunnetaitoharjoitteita.
Lopuksi kirjoittaja tiivistää teatteriohjaajan tunnetaitojen olevan konkreettisimmillaan omasta hyvinvoinnistaan huolenpitämistä, keskustelumahdollisuuden avaamista työryhmälle, toimintatavoista sopimista työryhmän kanssa sekä työryhmän hyvinvoinnin huomioimista. This thesis studies emotional skills as a work tool for a theatre director. The thesis examines the director's position of power and emotional skills as a tool to prevent abuse of power. The text answers the question of how a director can draw on emotional skills at various stages of the process of making a performance. The thesis uses the process of the contemporary theatrical production How deep is your soul, directed by the writer, as a case example. The writer answers the question of how she could have facilitated her own, as well as the rest of the team’s process through emotional skills.
The thesis is an offer and proposal for a tool to prevent abuse of power by the director. Text sources serve as e.g. Finnish national agency for education learning material from Tunteesta tunteeseen Teacher's material, Daniel Goleman's books Emotional Intelligence, and Working with Emotional Intelligence, as well as several media texts.
The thesis goes through the relevance of emotion in the work of a theatre director. The writer reflects on the relationship of the director's power position to the myth of artistic genius. The author mirrors questions about power to a theater director's emotional skills and lack thereof. Next, through a case example, the writer goes through four different levels of experiencing emotions, engages in self-reflection from her own instructor, and goes through various emotional skill exercises.
In conclusion, the writer summarizes the emotional skills of the theatre director as being at its most tangible in caring for their own well-being, opening up a discussion opportunity for the team, agreeing on policies with the team, and taking into account the well-being of the team.
