Tiivistelmä
This thesis was started with three secondary goals: researching GameMaker Studio 2, learning the basics of its drag-and-drop coding mechanics and studying how beginner-friendly the program is for a game designer. The main goal of this thesis was to create a document that delves into the basics of GameMaker Studio 2 and how to create a game level with it.
The project was divided into three parts: mechanics, art and research.
Competition analysis was used to compare GameMaker Studio 2 to RPG Maker, a program with many similarities in terms of beginner-friendliness. SWOT analysis was used to research this difference further while also looking at GameMaker Studio 2’s future in the market.
