Project management is in the center of the business in many organizations. To increase the effectiveness of project management and likelihood of projects succeeding there are many different methodologies and frameworks available. For the organizations it’s essential to choose methodologies and frameworks best suited to their needs and continuously develop them based on organization-spesific requirements.
This thesis was carried out for the case organization where it had been identified the need to ensure successful and high-quality project business now and in he future. To support that it was seen benefitial to create the organization-spesific project management framework. The objective of this thesis was to find out the organization specific best practices and required actions related to successful project management. The research was carried out using qualitative research methods, eg. workshops and iterative discussions in tight collaboration with the people working in the organization. The collected research data was analysed by grouping and categorizing based on the themes.
Based on the research findings several organization-spesific key areas as well as best practices and required activities where identified. The findings of this thesis were utilized in creation of the concrete project management framework and it was delivered for the organization in attachment to this thesis. In addition to the results of this research also additional development areas were identified and provided for the case organization.
