Opiskelijoiden ICT-palvelujen kehittäminen

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli lähteä kehittämään Vaasan ammattikorkeakoulun opiskelijoille suunnattuja IT-palveluja yhteistyössä koulun tietohallintoyksikön kanssa. Työn tavoitteena oli kehittää IT-palveluja siten, että opiskelijat tulisivat niitä todella käyttämään. Koululla oli paljon palveluja, joiden tarpeellisuutta kyseenalaistettiin ja joiden käyttöä haluttiin selvittää. Tämän toteuttamiseksi selvitettiin aluksi muiden koulujen palvelutarjontaa ja miten ohjeistus oli niillä toteutettuna. Siinä tutkittiin eri koulujen julkisia sivuja ja etsittiin yhdistäviä tekijöitä ja trendejä, joista voisi olla hyötyä kehitystyössä. Sen lisäksi teetettiin kysely opiskelijoille, jossa opiskelijoilta tiedusteltiin eri palvelujen käyttöä, työtapoja, ongelmia ja toiveita IT-palvelujen suhteen. Samalla selvitettiin opiskelijoiden mielipiteitä mahdollisista kehityssuunnitelmista. Kun tarvittavat tutkimukset oli tehty, laadittiin koululle uusi palvelukatalogiehdotus. Siinä sijoitettiin kaikki koulun IT-palvelut kategorioihin sekä lisättiin palveluja, jotka nähtiin hyödyllisiksi opiskelijoiden kannalta ja karsittiin pois niitä palveluja, joita opiskelijat eivät juuri tarvinneet. Viimeisenä luotiin ohjeistuksen rakenne ja sen sisällölliset suuntaviivat, joita tietohallinto seuraisi myöhemmin uusia ohjeita kirjoittaessa.

The purpose of this thesis was the development of IT services for students of Vaasa University of Applied Sciences in co-operation with the school’s IT administration. The goal of this work was to make sure that the students would really use the IT services that are offered to them. The school had a lot of services with disputed need and they wanted to find out how much they were being used. In order to do this, the IT catalogues of other schools and how their guides were presented were investigated first. The public web pages of other schools were also studied and any common practices and trends that could benefit the development were searched for. In addition to that, a survey for the students was made, in which the students were asked about how much they used the different services, their work methods, any potential problems they have had and their wishes towards the IT services. Their opinion about some of the possible development plans were investigated also along the way. Once the necessary investigations were made, a service catalogue proposition for the school was made. New services, which were considered useful to the students, were added to it and old services, which they did not have any use for were removed. Finally, a basic structure and guidelines were created for the IT guide. They are to be followed when the IT management team starts writing the new IT guide later on.
