The purpose of this thesis project was to investigate ways to train the employees of the company CHS: Air & Sea in the use of a new logistics computer system. The case company operates in the logistics business and they are about to implement the new software. The objectives were to identify the easiest methods of training the employees and to ensure that the trainees would be motivated.
The thesis report describes the logistics computer system called Silver Bullet in addition to the company’s business. After this, theory related to the topic is provided. The resources used have been thoughtfully selected so they link with the thesis’s objectives and support the analysis.
The open-ended questionnaire and the discussions, conducted with one of the company’s managers were used as qualitative research for investigating this case. The discussions provided information about the development of the training which had already started at the company. The open-ended questionnaire surveyed the opinion of the employees, which are about to take part in the training, which will be created based on this final research project.
Based on the theory and the analyzed findings recommendations are proposed for the needs of the company. All the necessities, such as learning needs, age gap, training environment, group size, motivation factors, appreciation rewards are taken into consideration in order for this training to accomplish its set goals. In case the recommendations are followed, the training shall have positive outcome.
