The subject of this thesis is about human resource management and its challenges with an addition of the case company: Company X. The company is specialized in property management provided to its customers. The purpose of this thesis is to examine Company X’s employees’ and managers’ insights, opinions and
thoughts of human resource management. The study investigates ways of human resource management, how the superiors are managing it and how it could be improved.
The theoretical groundwork of this paper is formulated by utilising professional literature, internet publications and articles. The theory parts discuss human resource management as a concept, its most common models and strategies, which include for example leadership of humans and their skills as well as human resource management’s ambitions in an organisation. The study also includes concepts of management and leadership, with a focus on the manager as a skill developer.
This thesis is executed as qualitative research, which draws its material from Company X’s interviews. The interviews were documented as in-depth interviews in order to gain more information than what a survey would result in.
The case company’s human resource management is currently not under a great development. The baseline for this is at an average level but coaching management style is still to be explored more. By evolving the human resource management within the company, skills are increased and employees are left motivated, which leads to an innovative and profitable business.
