Tiivistelmä
In this thesis there are two parts. The artistic part is a young soloists concert with Turku Philharmonic Orchestra where Korngold`s Violin Concerto op.35 first movement was performed 12th May 2021 in Turku by Ekin Kuzukira. The link to the recording of the concert is in the appendix of this thesis. Emphasis is given on this artistic part of the thesis.
In the written part of this thesis, the usefulness and application possibilities of Alexander technique in teaching the violin playing as well as in the studying of the violin playing is explored, since almost all violin players face pain when playing. It is especially important for violin teachers to be aware of the problems that may occur in violinists' bodies and the solutions to them. Therefore, the thesis emphasizes the importance of body awareness among violin teachers and students.
As a research method, in this thesis acquaintance with the source material on the subject was used. In addition, the author's first-hand experiences based on the author`s stress states of the body and on the release from them with the help of the Alexander technique, were applied.
The outcome is a summary of what the Alexander Technique is, and how the violin teacher and violin student can benefit from it.
