This thesis is written on the topic of supporting children's social and emotional skills in kindergarten. The purpose of the thesis was to develop various methods and activities that would help the children in supporting their social and emotional skills. The activities were mainly based on play. The thesis diary is written from the perspective of the teachers. The working life partners of the thesis were the work supervisor and work colleagues from workplace. It is a small and private bilingual kindergarten located in Helsinki. The activities to support the social and emotional skills are planned and discussed together with work supervisor and colleagues and the idea for the topic and theme are discussed with the supervisor teacher. The planned activities were implemented with the co operation of the work supervisor, colleagues , children, trainees and parents.
The thesis is written with diary-based method. It has included the daily reports, weekly analysis and the important aspects that are based mainly on the planned activities to support the social-emotional skills in children. The diary should be written for ten weeks however, due to the tight schedule, this thesis covers eight weeks daily reporting followed by weekly analysis. The theoretical framework of the thesis has mainly consisted of theories from national core curriculum for early childhood education and care (2018) or also known as VASU (Varhaiskasvatussuunnitelma) in Finnish term and the literature in social and emotional skills. Moreover,the electronic sources from the internet has also been used for the theoretical sources to support my points.

The evaluation and reflection of the thesis is done from the view points of work supervisor, children, work colleagues and I. The thesis provide the knowledge with some ideas and examples to support children's social and emotional skills from different activities.
