The aim of this thesis was to explore and experiment with different strategies for professional development through self-management, with a focus on time management. The theoretical framework referenced in the thesis includes printed and electronic literature by experts in the fields of psychology, neuroscience, and business. The thesis is written in journal-style daily reports with weekly themes and reviews and reflections of personal experiences. Different topics are explored and discussed each week to support the objective of the thesis. The topics include strategies for habit building and establishing consistency through dopamine regulation and cultivating a growth mindset.
The main findings of the thesis were the importance of mindset and the resulting effects of neurochemical response patterns on habit formation and the ability to overcome the mental challenges and uncertainty associated with the pursuit of new personal and professional goals.
