The primary aim of this research was to find out why mobile payments in Finland are lagging in popularity to other Nordic countries. The research also aims to answer the questions which payment methods consumers are using for different transactions, which mobile payment platforms consumers are using, and has the COVID-19 pandemic increased the usage. The research method for gathering the primary data was quantitative in a form of internet questionnaire.
This project uses quantitative research as a method for the primary data collection.
The data suggested that mobile payments are popular in Finland with personal transactions, but not retail. MobilePay was the most common platform. Old habits of using card payments was found out to be main reason for slow adoption in Finland. The COVID pandemic did not have major effect for the usage.
