In world politics and economic changes due to Covid have resulted in market increase in
some industries while some industries are struggling. Due to the horrors of Russia’s war on
Ukraine and the recovery from Covid actions, overall demand for firearms across the globe
has increased. This has had an effect on Finnish firearm retailers and their international
sales, as a result of which Asetalo Oy has been planning on expanding operations to Swit zerland.
This thesis was commissioned by Asetalo Oy to help the company’s plans to increase their
operations in the Swiss market. The thesis consists of general information about exporting
and Switzerland as a target country for trading firearms. This thesis also includes a cus tomer survey and another more detailed survey on international transactions/international
sales sent by email to a long-standing customer of the client company.
The research material consists mainly of various internet sources such as a police website,
a customs website, Swiss legislation and online books. The material was also gathered from
other literature and interviews. The interviews were conducted via Webropol survey and
reporting tool, in face-to-face interviews and through an e-mail questionnaire.
The research made it possible for the commissioner of the thesis to contact a couple of
Swiss companies after the customer survey was made. In addition, future plans have been
made for conducting business in Switzerland. Unfortunately the desired amount of recipi ents was not reached in the Webropol inquiry. A more detailed survey was compiled to
reach the goal of proper research.
