Social media has over the years become more important for businesses. Social media market-ing allows companies to establish a communication channel with its customers, market their products, build brand equity, and build trust between the company and customers. For many small companies, social media communications can be complicated to master. Business owners are struggling with variability of social media platforms. It can be hard to identify, which channels are the best and which audience should they focus on. Small business owners should have a clear plan that helps them with time and budget management.
The aim of this thesis was to form an online visibility plan for a small jewelry manufacturing company. Research will demonstrate how a small company can improve their online visibility in social media and in search engines with a minimum budget. Thesis aims to present the most effective ways to increase online visibility for small businesses. Information was collected from existing research and literature around the topic and implement into company’s online actions. Thesis was executed through Research-Based Development Method.
Main findings made by the case company’s online actions, was that social media marketing is time consuming and challenging for a small one-person business. Small companies need to identify the best social media channels and be active in order to attract the target audience. Creating quality content that engages users and offers them something more, is the key for increasing online visibility for small business.
