The purpose of this thesis is to explore cloud-based computing in the banking sector. The demand for cloud-based computing has been increasing in all sectors. Different sectors use different cloud-based applications, meaning they all have different expectations and uses. In this thesis, these possible applications will be investigated.
The research aims to recognize banks' opportunities and challenges when implementing cutting-edge technology applications. The method of research will be elaborated. As it is a very new system for banks to use, they are still discovering what fits their needs and expectations.
A case company will be mentioned, which will be Danske Bank. They recently transformed their IT solutions to optimize their IT department. In the beginning, fundamentals of cloud-based computing will be presented, then later on how they could be used in the banking sector.
