Business plan for a home organizing business

Abstract

This thesis was commissioned by the author herself. The author has been interested in organizing and helping others to organize their homes, and this interest combined with the author’s business studies led to the business idea of home organizing services. Before establishing the business, the author needs to write a business plan which became the topic of the thesis.

The objective of the thesis is to create an initial business plan for the author’s home organizing business and to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the business, the target market and what would be a good marketing strategy. The author did literature research and wrote the initial business plan to answer this objective. In the theory part the thesis, the author discussed topics related to business plan, such as, contents and importance of a business plan, forms of enterprise in Finland, marketing, market segmentation, market targeting, competitive analysis, and SWOT analysis.

The business plan for the author’s home organizing business was created based on the theory related to a business plan. The author discussed about the company and its management, created a service selection, researched the target market and competitors, and made a SWOT analysis and marketing strategy for the business. The business field is still new and the number of professional organizers in Finland is small so the business plan will be updated in the future. The business plan will be used as a support when the author is going to establish her business in a few years.
