Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyössä perehdytään lapsen näön kehitykseen ja sen yleisimpiin kehityshäiriöihin sekä neuvolajärjestelmään ja siellä käytettäviin näön seulontamenetelmiin. Mahdollisten kehityspoikkeamien varhainen diagnosointi sekä jatkotutkimuksiin ja -hoitoon ohjaaminen on tärkeää, jotta saatavat hoitotulokset olisivat hyviä. Lastenneuvolan rooli lapsen näön seulonnassa on ensiarvoisen tärkeä, sillä ilman säännöllisiä seulontoja lapsen näkö saattaa kehittyä korjaamattoman poikkeavaksi.
Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin yhden opiskelijan projektimuotoisena työnä. Seulo Selkeästi–opas on tarkoitettu sekä jo työelämässä oleville terveydenhoitajille että ammattiin vielä opiskeleville. Opas on kaksitoistasivuinen ja se muotoiltiin A5-kokoiseksi. Oppaassa käytettiin kuvitusta tukemaan tekstiä ja lisäämään kiinnostavuutta. Seulo Selkeästi -oppaassa kerrotaan miksi, miten ja milloin lapsen näköä tulee seuloa. Valmis opas jaettiin kolmellekymmenelle terveydenhoitajaopiskelijalle. Heiltä kerättiin palautetta viikko oppaan jaon jälkeen. Ryhmä käytti opasta opiskelumateriaalina näön seulonnan harjoitustunnilla.
Palautteen perusteella opas oli onnistunut, ajanmukainen ja tarpeellinen. Teksti koettiin helppolukuiseksi ja opas selkeytti aiemmin vaikeita asiakokonaisuuksia. Palautteen antajat aikovat hyödyntää opasta myöhemmin työskennellessään neuvolassa. The child welfare clinic has the most important role in the examination of the sight of children under school age. Most sight problems of children can be quite easily corrected if the diagnosis is made early enough. The examination results are reliable only if the examination is done correctly.
The thesis was performed as a project. The guide was prepared to develop professional abilities of the nurses working in child welfare clinics. The purpose of the project was to prepare a guide which was interesting, clear and easy to read. The short term practical aim was to give the nurses the basic knowledge to examine children’s sight correctly. The long-term practical aim was to make the nurses adopt the working methods which were presented in the guide. Getting more information about children’s sight development and the most common problems related to it was chosen as a learning objective.
The completed guide was given to nurse students for testing. The feedback was collected in a week’s time. The feedback proved that the guide was useful, up-to-date and it made difficult things easy to understand. The nurse students thought that the guide was useful as learning material and they were also willing to use the guide in their future work.
