The purpose of the thesis was to help finding out specific road transport situation in two key areas of China, they are southwest road to Shanghai and east road to Shanghai. Finding out selection criteria of a good transport company was another purpose. The work was carried out in order to support case company, Jayamaa, which is located in Lahti, Finland. Obtain needed information and find out the potential problems of the case company by analyzing the transport route and selection criteria of good transport company. The core part of theoretical part was to analyze Chinese road transport situation, especially covered two key areas and the main selection criteria of good transport company.
As a research method, qualitative research was chosen. Interviews were used to collect information for this work. Respondents from six different transport companies in two key areas of China have been interviewed for the purpose of searching primary and reliable data.
According to the qualitative results, choosing a good Chinese transport company is mainly based on cost and price, speed, credibility which are mentioned in theory part. The selection criteria are different according to different demands to some extent. There does exist the need for case company to select good transport company, so that the commission company could improve transport efficiency .The cost and price, speed and credibility are the important selection criteria of good transport company.
