Tiivistelmä
This Bachelor’s thesis was done for Symbio services Oy. The company needed to have an evaluation system, which would be able to help the company to evaluate potential employee by using questionnaires designed. The aim was to build a system that helps teachers, companies or any organization to build question sets that are easily maintained with a simple user interface, able to run across multiple platforms, and easy to extend in the future.
Another aim was to build up question sets that would help the company to evaluate J2ME professionals, as well as be able to use the system for evaluating professionals and other employees with technical background in near future.
The system was chosen to be built by using the Java (SE) technology. The uses of different technologies combined with the proprietary Microsoft Word were applied in order to complete the robust system. The driving force behind choosing Java technology was due to my keen interest, open nature, and extensive academic learning with it.
The working system was built so that it lets the client collect questionnaires into the system. It also lets them build per category and volume, and export it as a full printable document. It was built as a platform independent, localized desktop application which is the principal entity of the system. The system has a lot of potential for further development, by adding backend support for a desktop client, and remote structured data storage. For the desktop client more interfaces, more interfaces can be added transforming it also into an interface for answering questionnaires.
