Tiivistelmä
The topic of the thesis was given from a Finnish importer of hygiene product, Puritas Oy. The company was interested in penetrating a new market abroad, more precisely the city of St. Petersburg in Russia. The objective of the thesis was to research the Russian market and St.Petersburg and to find out the suitable way for Puritas Oy to penetrate the market. The product which the company wanted to introduce into the market is their main product, toilet seat cover.
The research methodology was qualitative. In order to proceed in the process and figure out solutions theory about the Russian market characteristics was collected and analyzed using the SWOT, PESTLE and Five Forces models. Most of the sources were electronical mainly because of their timeliness and comprehensiveness. Books and journals were also used in order to maintain the reliability of a Bachelor’s Thesis.
The main results were that the most important guideline for Puritas Oy is to understand the differences of social and business behavior in Russia as well as gather and maintain good business relations at the target market. Observations on legal, political and economical issues were confronted also as threats of substitute product and possible rivalry in the analyses. In order for Puritas Oy to succeed in its attempts of Russian market penetration they must pay attention on developing their marketing materials and linguistic abilities and most importantly find a reliable local distributor.
