This thesis report is written aims to familiarize the idea and concept of Green computing, discover the facts that makes the trend of Green IT becoming popular and demanded, and figure out the initiatives of different parties involved in this issue and generalization of the workable Green IT solutions at presently used.
The theoretical base of the thesis report is based on the concept of Green IT, motivation and initiatives of different parties such as companies, governments and organizations. Major IT companies such as Microsoft Corporation, Google Inc, Apple Inc and Intel Corporation are studied and researched as cases analysis. The solutions and approaches that they are taking to decrease the impact of their IT business activities on the environment are analyzed and generalized, which can be taken as examples to the companies and industry for going green.
