Taloudellisen kannattavuuden vertailu siirryttäessä integroituun toimintaprosessiin : Case: Yritys X - verkkokauppa

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön aiheena oli tutkia kehitysprojektin ja järjestelmäintegraation mahdollistamia kustannussäästöjä kohdeyrityksen verkkokauppatoiminnassa. Opinnäytetyön toimeksiantajana toimii suomalainen pk-yritys, jolla on ollut kivijalkaliikkeiden lisäksi verkkokauppa vuodesta 2005 asti. Yrityksessä on havaittu, ettei verkkokaupan toiminnan tehokkuus ole halutulla tasolla. Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää yrityksen verkkokaupan nykyistä toimintatapaa tilausten käsittelyssä sekä kuvata kehitysprojektin ja järjestelmäintegraation tuomia mahdollisuuksia sekä siihen liittyviä mahdollisia riskejä. Yksi opinnäytetyön tavoitteista oli auttaa linjaamaan nykyprosessin muutostarpeita ja linjata kehitysprojektin laajuutta sekä tarpeellisuutta. Opinnäytetyössä pyritään hakemaan vastauksia siihen, millaisia ovat yrityksen taloudelliset hyödyt verkkokaupan toimintaprosessia kehitettäessä ja sen sitä kautta tehostuessa.

Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin toiminnallisena case-tutkimuksena. Yrityksen verkkokaupan toimintamallien nykytilaa kuvattiin haastattelemalla, tutkimalla sekä havainnoimalla nykyisiä toimintatapoja. Toimintamallin kustannuksia laskettiin vertaamalla kustannuksia tilausten käsittelyaikoihin. Opinnäytetyössä esitetään myös laskennallisia lukuja järjestelmäintegraation tuomista mahdollisista säästöistä käsittelyaikojen lyhentyessä. Opinnäytetyön tietoperusta muodostuu kustannuslaskennan, integraation, verkkokauppasovellusten sekä verkkokaupan toimintaprosessien teorioista.

Opinnäytetyön johtopäätöksenä todettiin, että kehitysprojekti ja järjestelmäintegraatio ovat yritykselle ajankohtaisia ja tarpeellisia, sillä verkkokaupan nykyinen toimintaprosessi on monimutkainen. Monimutkaisuutensa vuoksi nykyinen toimintamalli on teholtaan heikko ja syö verkkokaupan taloudellista kannattavuutta. Automatisoimalla ja virtaviivaistamalla prosesseja, on verkkokauppatoiminnan tehostamiselle hyvät edellytykset. Kehitysprojektiin investoitavien varojen on kuitenkin oltava terveessä suhteessa saavutettaviin hyötyihin, jotta investointi olisi kannattavaa.

The subject of the thesis was to study the cost savings accomplished through a development project and systems integration in the electronic commerce of the target company. The assigner of the thesis is a Finnish small to medium-sized company which has had E-commerce in addition to the stores since 2005. It has been noticed in the company that the effectiveness of the electronic commerce is not at a desired level. The purpose of the thesis was to research the present procedures of handling the orders in the E-commerce, as well as to describe the possibilities brought by a development project and systems integration, and the possible risks related to it. One of the objectives of the thesis was to map the need for change in the present process and outline scope and necessity of the development project. The thesis also aims at finding out what are the company’s economic advantages when the operation process of the electronic commerce is developed and optimized.

The thesis was carried out as a functional case study. The present state of the company’s E-commerce operation models was modelled by interviewing, examining and observing the present procedures. The costs of the operation model were calculated by comparing costs with the processing times of the orders. The thesis also presents calculations of possible savings brought by the systems integration as the processing times shorten. The theoretical background of the thesis consists of the theories of the operation processes of cost accounting, integration, E-commerce and online shopping.

As a conclusion, the thesis states that a development project and systems integration are topical and necessary to the company because the present E-commerce operation process is too complex. Because of its complexity the present operations model is ineffective, and it reduces the economic profitability of the E-commerce. There are good chances of enhancing the E-commerce by automating and streamlining processes. However, the allowances invested to the development project must be in a healthy relation to the advantages gained to make the investment profitable.
