Tiivistelmä
This thesis presents a descriptive literature review focusing on the challenges and support mechanisms for adult and unaccompanied minor asylum seekers in Finland. It explores the intricate dynamics of the Finnish asylum system, analyzing legal frameworks, integration policies, and psychological perspectives to understand how these individuals are received and cared for.
The research delves into the various challenges faced by asylum seekers, examining the structural elements of Finland's reception system, including the role and impact of group homes. It addresses a broad spectrum of issues, ranging from the unique challenges encountered by young asylum seekers, to legal considerations, integration complexities, and the critical importance of psychological support. A key emphasis is placed on the need for personalized educational assistance, practical career guidance, and consistent support systems to aid in the integration process.
Furthermore, the thesis advocates for more transparent and adaptive legal policies, aiming to enhance the understanding of existing legal frameworks and integration policies. The ultimate goal is to align these policies more closely with the evolving needs of asylum seekers, ensuring equitable treatment throughout the asylum process. This comprehensive review highlights the multifaceted nature of asylum in Finland and underscores the necessity for a holistic approach to support and integrate asylum seekers into society.
