This thesis was commissioned by Mekiwi Oy. Mekiwi Oy is a one-stop place for digital resolution. Their service includes many software related things from game development to graphic design, UI/UX design and web development. The main aim of this project was to develop an Oulu restaurant life prototype website called Känkky where users can check their favorite restaurant opening time, discover new restaurants or leave feedback of the restaurant service.
The waterfall method was used in this thesis for developing the web application. The user interface visual design was built with the help of Adobe Illustrator. jQuery, bootstrap and leafletjs were the main tools the developer used for implementing the application.
The result of this project is satisfying. Although a few features were left out in the development process and a few user interface elements were changed in order to boost up the user experience and performance. The application renders and works as intended on various platforms and browsers.
