This thesis was conducted with an Oulu based company called MedKit Oy. After many case studies done for the company about Swedish healthcare in general, the company wanted to gain information more precisely about the private healthcare. The ultimate aim was to gain contacts as well as inside information about private hospitals’ purchasing processes.
The objective of the thesis is to find out how the commissioning company can add in value in strengthening and developing a supply chain. Theory has been gathered to support the research question and ideas for implementation.
The research was conducted by investigating the relevant theory using literature and theme interview. The theory is about supply chain management and how it works in healthcare. The empirical part was covered by questionnaires that were sent to the respondents via email. The questionnaire was sent to CFOs, purchasing manager and communication manager of the five biggest private healthcare chains.
The most relevant information for the commissioning company are the validated contact details and organizations that can be linked the commissioning company in the Swedish environment as well as ideas for development in practice.
