The aim of the thesis was to define key performance indicators for logistics and study what kind of features a good key performance indicator possesses. Key performance indicators are a tool that many companies/organizations use to monitor their functions in areas such as logistics, productions, sales, and marketing. As a versatile tool it can be applied to any company or business field and used to monitor and set goals for the operations.
The thesis was started by a study of key performance indicators and their usage to define qualities for good key performance indicators. After these some key performance indicators were chosen for logistics and suggested to the client company. The key performance indicators were modified together with the company to suit their needs. Data was collected from the company according to the chosen key performance indictors and made into Power BI dashboards which could be used in the company.
The results include graphs of key performance indicators that were analyzed. In conclusion key performance indicators are a good tool that can serve many functions and offer great benefits to the company if used correctly. Key performance indicators should be custom-built to suit the company's needs. With future technologies and data collection methods using key performance indicators will become easier.
