Tiivistelmä
This thesis aimed to redesign the Pokémon Showdown damage calculator website to improve its usability and visual appeal. The existing site, although functional, had an outdated design that was challenging for novice and intermediate users. The goal was to create a new, modern website that retained the same functionality but was more user-friendly.
An analysis of the current site identified its strengths and weaknesses. User profiles were studied to understand the needs of different user levels. Using Figma, a modern interface design was developed with a cohesive color palette, updated typography, and intuitive icons. The layout was redesigned to resemble the original game interfaces, and new features such as modals for field and weather conditions were added. The workflow was optimized for ease of use.
The final design provided a visually appealing and easy-to-navigate interface for all users. It featured a clear color scheme, improved layout, and helpful tooltips. The redesign successfully bridged the gap between the tool and the Pokémon games, making it a valuable resource for competitive players. This work demonstrated the effectiveness of a user-centered design approach in enhancing web application usability.
