Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) theory is increasingly applied in many companies in which Systems, Applications and Products in data processing (SAP) is getting more popular owing to its significant benefits to the organizations. Unilever is one of the largest fast-moving consumer (FMCG) multi-national groups having numerous factories in more than 190 countries around the world. Unilever Vietnam has been developing dramatically for more than 24 years in Vietnam since 1995 with a mission of making Vietnamese people's lives better through the high quality of each product provided to the community. The key objective of this thesis is to understand the quality management (QM) system and ERP theory as well as SAP’s implement to QC and how it supports the quality department in their daily activities.
There are two research methods used in this thesis, which are questionnaires and documents/records/evidence. The target interviewees of questionnaires are the employees who are working with ERP system regularly (except for the managerial levels) in the QA Department to get their feedback on how SAP influences on their daily tasks, both disadvantages as well as advantages that SAP has brought to the organizations. On the other hand, the documents/records/evidence from QM team will show how ERP is implemented in Quality Assurance (QA) department and how users apply ERP to their daily tasks.
Explanations about QM theories, ERP theories as well as SAP QM module along with some SAP QM projects to be described, explained in the case study could be a reference for any companies which are under the progress of applying ERP system. At the end of the thesis, the conclusion is reached to confirm again the benefits that SAP brings to QA team and QM activities. This also explains users' expectations so that management teams, project teams or IT teams can consider with a view to utilizing and applying SAP more efficiently.
