This document describes the concepts in robotics using Raspberry Pi, GoPiGo and some sensors. Beginners who have passion for Internet of Things (IoT), can learn from this document. The purpose of this thesis was to learn about the GoPiGo robot and use Python as a programming language. The major objective was to learn, build and describe a robot with Raspberry Pi and GoPiGo including different sensors.
Different materials and documents from the internet were collected for learning and implementing the project. The GoPiGo Kit, sensors, needed cables, and many learning materials were provided by the thesis supervisor Anne Keskitalo. Python, different Python libraries, Flask framework, Raspbian for Robots OS, Thonny Python IDE were used for the implementation of different sensors.
A live video streaming robot was built to stream live video while moving in a path, which can then be viewed in the browser. For example, the robot can be used practically to detect intimidating places where humans cannot reach and as a security camera at home too. The basic implementation of the Grove PIR motion sensor, a Distance Sensor, the GoPiGo Line Follower for Robots was also done and described.
