Artificial intelligence for 3GPP document analysis

Abstract

Company Oriented Product Development Project courses are important last parts in the information technology bachelor degree studies. MediaTek Wireless Finland Oy offered three students an opportunity to dive into the world of generative AI and the results were really positive. The objective was to design and implement an Artificial Intelligence based tool to help in analyzing 3GPP telecommunication standard specification and change request documents. The students formed a project team and worked on the project during spring 2024. They researched the topic and implemented a Large Language Model based application with chatbot UI using Retrieval Augmented Generation technology in the background and successfully accomplished the task.
