Tiivistelmä
Small environmental monitoring projects should be cost-effective, as profits are often small compared to the workload. This requires efficient methods to remain competitive. The thesis aimed to explore if lean principles could improve the profitability of such projects by eliminating waste, focusing on the offer request, initiation, and planning phases. Research material included lean principles and project phases, collected through a survey of project managers in environmental consultancy. Based on the responses, improvement actions were proposed. Workshops and value stream mapping resulted in a future state model eliminating waste. Further development of this model is suggested to enhance cost-efficiency and add value for customers.
