Tiivistelmä
In this thesis, I delve deep into a modernization project from the perspective of project management on-site. I examine the entire project, spanning from the initial inspection of the ship to its final delivery. Additionally, I delve into the demolition work and the challenges that arose during the project. Drawing from past experiences, I aim to identify potential problems and develop strategies to prevent them in future projects, while also incorporating the best practices that proved successful.
Over a period of five months, I had the privilege of spending seven rotations at a shipyard in Germany. Each rotation consisted of two to four weeks of dedicated work on the ship, followed by a one-week break back home in Finland. In total, I embarked on a journey of approximately 20 weeks, dedicating seven days a week on the ship, with an average workday of 10 to 14 hours.
