Tiivistelmä
This thesis explored the experiences of immigrant entrepreneurs in Finland, focusing on the challenges and opportunities they encounter in establishing businesses. Immigrant entrepreneurship has grown significantly in Finland, contributing to the country’s economic diversity. However, language barriers, regulatory complexities, and cultural adaptation often hinder the entrepreneurial journey. The objective of this thesis was to examine these barriers and identify the support mechanisms available, offering practical insights for prospective immigrant entrepreneurs. A qualitative research approach was applied, involving semi-structured interviews with immigrant entrepreneurs and a business advisor. This method enabled a detailed examination of personal experiences and the socio-cultural factors impacting immigrant entrepreneurship. Data collected through these interviews was analyzed using a pattern-based method, providing a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory, financial, and social dimensions that influence entrepreneurial success for immigrants in Finland. The findings highlighted that language proficiency, local network access, and government support play essential roles in overcoming challenges faced by immigrant entrepreneurs. Conclusions suggest that while Finland offers a supportive environment, improvements in language assistance and simplified regulations could further enhance immigrant entrepreneurial success. Future research is recommended to explore additional aspects, such as the impact of mentorship and the role of digital resources in expanding business networks.
