Effective contraception is paramount for individuals seeking to manage their reproductive health and family planning responsibly. In contemporary society, hormonal implants, and intrauterine devices (IUDs) have emerged as preferred contraceptive options due to their high efficacy rates and long-term convenience. This thesis endeavours to delve into the intricate functionalities of hormonal implants and IUDs, with a specific focus on enhancing comprehension among students at Laurea University of Applied Sciences (Laurea UAS).
The significance of this research lies in the necessity to bridge the gap in knowledge regarding contraceptive methods, particularly among nursing students who are poised to become frontline healthcare providers. By developing an educational poster that elucidates the mechanisms and benefits of hormonal implants and IUDs, this study aims to equip students with comprehensive understanding and expertise in contraceptive practices. Grounded in the principles of learning by developing, this thesis adopts a functional approach, envisioning the educational poster as an integral component of the Sexual and Reproductive course within the nursing degree curriculum at Laurea UAS. Through the utilization of graphic design tools such as Canva, the poster intends to serve as an accessible and visually engaging study material, facilitating the assimilation of complex information on hormonal implants and IUDs.
