Tiivistelmä
Company X is a Finnish company specialising in large-scale commercial printing, including billboards, signs, ad campaigns, etc. They emphasise reliability, sustainability, and, at the time of writing, still under development, safety. The company is currently focused on improving safety performance with regulatory compliance and meeting the relevant ISO standards as a foundation for further development. This research project aims to develop a comprehensive safety improvement plan for Company X’s City Y location. This has been accomplished through analysing internal documents, international standards, and Finnish legislation, combined with on-site audits and an analysis of the audit findings. The findings will be utilised to establish a proposal for improving workplace safety.

This bachelor's thesis report aims to provide insight into developing the safety improvement plan for Company X. Through a review of internal documents, international standards, Finnish legislation and performing in-person audits, a development plan based on their City Y location will be created as a proposal for the company to consider.

During the audits, several problem areas and behaviours were identified and documented using pictures, checklists, and impromptu questions. Using the reference materials, the findings were analysed to identify potential root causes and then advised options for the company to correct and improve.

The analysis of these findings led to the main conclusion that employee training and the application of 6S concepts in operations need improvement. The suggestions are to improve the content and accessibility of the mandatory training and for management to be more proactive and hands-on in shaping the operational practices, including the planned 6S implementation. Further suggestions for improvement include updating the current storage to comply with occupational health and safety legislation and using International Standards from the Organisation for International Standardization (ISO).
