Tiivistelmä
The global shortage of nurses has impacted the Finnish healthcare system, prompting the recruitment of foreign-born nurses (FBNs). Although FBNs are key to solving this challenge, they face various challenges that may affect their assimilation and retention into the workforce. The challenges explored in the article include language barriers, lack of trust and mutual respect, and discrimination. Possible solutions to these challenges have been discussed, including longer language integration, buddy systems and mentoring, and cultural competency training. A critical reflective approach has been used for this article.
