Tiivistelmä
This thesis explores how locally produced food items from the Oulu2026 region
can be introduced into local stores as part of the Arctic Food Lab initiative under
the Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture project. The need for this research
arises from the idea of bringing visibility to local products, powered by a third
party member, with the aim of bringing local food culture to the surface during the
culture capital year.
The theoretical framework includes food sector regulations, branding and product
marketing, which are essential for understanding the challenges and
opportunities in promoting regional food products. Using a diary-based approach,
the thesis documents the collaboration process between producers, store
representatives, and project organizers.
While the goal was to create a future guideline for producers, the evolving nature
of the cooperation led to a broader analysis of practical challenges and potential
solutions. The findings offer valuable insights for future regional product
development and collaboration models.
