Tiivistelmä
This thesis uses a learning diary as a main part to focus on professional growth in the film industry whilst observing the importance of employee engagement. The objective is to take a step back to look at the big picture of the role, responsibilities and skills of a production assistant to focus on developing skills, career advancement, and boosting confidence and competence. Due to confidentiality reasons, the workplace will be referred to as Company X throughout the thesis.
Before the learning diary section, the thesis covers the role and responsibilities overall as well as the frameworks used during the six-week observation period. The learning diary aims to address the feedback received in an annual review from the line manager through weekly diary entries. The entries start with objectives for each week, then cover highlights of the week and finally learnings to take onboard directly for the following week.
The final chapter is used to reflect on the six-week observation period and bring it back to the initial feedback from the annual review to critically review the progress.
