Abstract
Every well-acclaimed artificial intelligence (AI) application in the logistics field is gradually being effectively embedded to improve the operational efficiency of the logistics industry. The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) technology on improving logistics processes, ultimately reduc-ing costs and enhancing decision-making. The thesis was commissioned by Savonia University of Applied Sciences.
In this study various AI applications in logistics were examined, with the primary objective of understanding their impacts on supply chain management. Secondary data was utilized to investigate the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on logistics optimization. The potential of AI to enhance logistics performance was explored by reviewing scholarly publications, business reports, and case studies. Since this study relies on secondary data, it enables trend analysis across various logistics companies (DHL, Amazon, Ocado, UPS, Orion, and FedEx) and comparisons of AI adoption without requiring primary data collection. This approach ensured an objective evaluation of AI's current and potential contributions to logistics optimization.
According to the study's results, it can be inferred that AI has drastically enabled streamlined logistics through efficient inventory management, task automation, and enhanced predictive analytics. The study's conclusions revealed certain issues, such as individual differences in the cost of implementation and change, in contrast to the numerous positives that AI offers.
