Saattohoito-opas Folkhälsantalo Vantaan henkilökunnalle

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli kehittää saattohoidossa olevan potilaan hoitotyötä ja tavoitteena oli lisätä hoitohenkilökunnan näyttöön perustuvaa tietoa saattohoidossa olevan potilaan kokonaisvaltaisesta hoidosta. Opinnäytetyön työelämänkumppanina toimi Folkhälsan Välfärd Ab. Opinnäytetyössä tuotettiin Folkhälsan Välfärd Ab:n yksikköön Folkhälsan talo Vantaalle saattohoito-opas.

Opinnäytetyössä halusimme korostaa, kuinka tärkeää on fyysisten oireiden lievittämisen lisäksi saattohoidossa olevan potilaan ja omaisten kohtaaminen. Saattohoito-opas sisältää teoriatietoa saattohoidosta, kivunhoitomenetelmistä, perushoidosta, kuolevan potilaan ja omaisten kohtaamisesta, vuorovaikutustaidoista, etiikasta ja kuolemasta.

Opinnäytetyön teoreettisen viitekehyksen tekemiseksi käytimme lisäksi sähköistä kyselylomaketta hoitohenkilökunnalle, jossa selvitettiin hoitohenkilökunnan osaamista saattohoidossa olevan potilaan hoidosta. Kyselylomakkeen analysoituamme nostimme opinnäytetyössä laajemmin esille asioita, joissa koettiin enemmän kehittämisen tarpeita. Kyselyn perusteella pystyimme toteamaan, että osaaminen saattohoidossa koettiin yksikössä hyväksi.

Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli tehdä selkeä ja helposti luettava saattohoito-opas, josta tieto on nopeasti saatavilla ja helposti hyödynnettävissä. Kehittämismuotoisen opinnäytetyön tuloksena valmistui sähköisessä muodossa oleva suomen- ja ruotsinkielinen tulostettava saattohoito-opas. Hoitohenkilökunta oli tyytyväinen selkeään ja helposti luettavaan saattohoito-oppaaseen. Hoitohenkilökunnan tulee päivittää saattohoito-opasta jatkossa uusimpien käypähoitosuositusten ja näyttöön perustuvan tiedon mukaan.

The aim of this thesis was to develop nursing care for patients in hospice care as well as to improve nursing staff's evidence-based knowledge of the holistic care of patients in hospice care. Folkhälsan Välfärd Ab was the working partner for the thesis. An output of the thesis was a hospice care guide for the Folkhälsan Välfärd Ab unit at Folkhälsanhuset i Vanda.

In the thesis, the authors wanted to emphasize the importance of encountering patients and their relatives in hospice care, in addition to relieving physical symptoms. The guide discussed theoretical knowledge on hospice care, pain treatment methods, basic care, encounters with the dying patient and their relatives, interaction skills, ethics and death.

In addition to the theoretical framework for this thesis, the authors used an electronic questionnaire for nursing staff which assessed the nursing staff's knowledge of caring for a patient in hospice care. After analyzing the questionnaire, the authors highlighted issues in the thesis where there was discovered to be more need for improvement. Based on the questionnaire, the authors were able to conclude that competence in hospice care was perceived as good in the unit.

The goal of this thesis was to create a clear and user-friendly guide to hospice care, where information is quickly available and easy to use. As a result of this developmental thesis, a printable guide for hospice care was produced in electronic format in Finnish and Swedish. The nursing staff was satisfied with the clear and user-friendly guide. The hospice care guide should be updated by the nursing staff in the future according to the latest Current Care Guidelines and evidence-based knowledge.
