Tiivistelmä
This thesis explores the significance of algorithmic transparency in protecting user privacy on AI-driven social media networks. Algorithmic systems that govern content suggestions, targeted advertising, and user interaction frequently function as "black boxes," hindering users' comprehension of data collection and utilization processes. This absence of transparency worsens privacy concerns.
The thesis examines the importance of algorithmic transparency in artificial intelligence ethics, the existing problems in its application, and its relationship with legislative frameworks such as the GDPR. The thesis asserts that transparency is essential for enhancing responsibility and trust between users and platforms, supported by theoretical examination and empirical evidence, and proposes viable remedies, including regulatory interventions and improvements in AI explainability.
