Tiivistelmä
This article presents recommendations for student-oriented work-based learning (WBL) in Master’s level social and health care education (EQF7), responding to a nationally identified development need. WBL supports flexible and individualized learning paths while enhancing collaboration between universities of applied sciences and working life. Master’s students are typically experienced professionals studying alongside work, and WBL enables them to integrate learning with real work tasks.
WBL aligns workplace activities with academic competence goals by agreeing with the student, workplace representative, and teacher. The student is responsible for planning and demonstrating learning outcomes based on course objectives and assessment criteria. In social and health care leadership and development programs, WBL can focus, for example, on developing project management skills. The article offers practical guidance for students and educators to implement effective WBL practices.
