Tiivistelmä
This thesis analyzes the sanctions imposed against Russia after 2022, their initial goals, and their actual outcomes. A general definition of sanctions, their types, and their objectives is provided, along with an overview of existing research on the topic. The study identified five primary areas most affected by the sanctions: the energy sector, the economic and financial spheres, the technology sector, and personal as well as diplomatic measures.
The research was conducted as qualitative desk research using secondary data from official reports, academic literature, international organizations, and independent media sources.
The findings show that, although the main goal of ending the conflict was not achieved, the sanctions nonetheless brought significant changes to the structure of Russia’s economy, its energy sector, technological development, and other key areas. Russia has been forced to establish new partnerships with other countries and implement additional internal measures to adapt to these pressures.
Overall, the thesis provides an overview of the types of sanctions imposed, how they affected key sectors, and what consequences they may have for Russia and its future development.
