Tiivistelmä
The focus of this thesis was to conduct a video game industry market research,
and to clarify what made this sphere of entertainment business so successful.
The main goal was to analyze methods, approaches and trends in the development and design of video game projects, that have led to enormous growth and success.
The study was carried out based on official literature and secondary data. The secondary data was more suitable for this kind of research due to its constant updated status and the relevancy of the industry. The online sources used contained official news articles,
business e-journals, company annual reports,
official professional critic reviews and customer surveys and feedback.
This theoretical framework allowed to precisely illustrate the current state and
perspective of the industry.
The results present an overview of the whole video game industry, methods and approaches that companies use, how the trends change, and its overall outlook for
the future.
