Tiivistelmä
This dissertation explores the challenges and opportunities involved in exporting Finnish education to Saudi Arabia. The Finnish education system's innovative, equitable, and student-centred approach has gained international recognition and serves as a desirable model for countries seeking educational reform. However, cultural, religious, and linguistic differences between Finland and Saudi Arabia present significant obstacles for Finnish education exporters to overcome. Adapting training programmes to Saudi clients' unique needs and cultural norms while avoiding religious or cultural taboos is essential for success. Effective localisation and customisation of training programmes can establish Finnish education exporters' reputation in the Middle Eastern market.
To succeed in the Saudi market, Finnish education exporters must understand the local culture and provide appropriate linguistic support, suitable housing, and education options that adhere to cultural and religious standards. Tailoring training curricula to Saudi clients' specific requirements can improve business prospects and build enduring relationships. This case study highlights the significance of accommodating cultural and social norms when exporting educational services to foreign markets. Qualitative research methods, including interviews with a Senior Transnational Education Advisor from the University of Helsinki, provided valuable insights into the challenges of exporting Finnish education to Saudi Arabia.
